A gorgon is an unholy creature that goddess of beauty (Aphrodite) or the war goddess (Athena) transformed them. There are meany different story’s for why she did it. These are some of the story’s why:

                                                                                                                            Because the god Zeus was meant to love Aphrodite but he liked to sleep with humans one of them humans being a beautiful girl, so she transformed the girl in to a monster that no man can ever look at because they will turn to stone.

                     

There is another story that involes Aphrodite, where the girl was called beautiful which was not what upset Aphrodite so she turnt her in to a beast.what upset her was the fact that the man said you are more beautiful the Aphroditeherself. Aphrodite didn’t like the so she made it so no man can ever go near her are they will die.

 

The more commen story is that a beautiful woman went in to Athena’s temple to look for a safe place but unfortunately the god Poseidon found her and raped her. So Athena punished the beautiful young girl for being raped in her temple by a god that is her enemy, by turning the beautiful girl in to a gorgon that no man can ever look sat.
